Juneteenth Harambee - Edmonds College (Copy)

On behalf of the Juneteenth Committee, I would like to invite you to our Edmonds College’s

celebration of Juneteenth! As many of you know, Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865,

when the news reached enslaved African Americans in Texas that the Emancipation

Proclamation had been signed by President Lincoln two years earlier in 1863. This day

celebrates the ending of enslavement, the African American culture, Black excellence, power

and joy, and the contributions of African Americans.

The two days of events will include:

Thursday, June 10th | 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

We will have a dynamite speaker, Dr. Pamela “Safisha Nzingha” Hill, who will join us. Dr. Hill is

a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consultant, an Afrocentric Scholar, Activist, Journalist,

Student Development Practitioner, and Life Student of Africana Studies.
